The Giants were one of the laughingstocks of Major League Baseball since Barry Bonds was linked to performance-enhancing drug. They are headed to the doldrums of MLB with a pitiful line-up. In 2010, led by Tim “Freak” Lincecum, a revitalized veteran crop led by Edgar Renteria and rookie sensation Buster Posey, the Giants surprised a lot of people by making the play-offs and overtaking fancied teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks. Entering the play-offs, they were thought of as easy first-round opponent. Thanks to a virtuoso performance by Lincecum and timely heating by Posey and Juan Uribe, the Giants overcame the heavily favored Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS and reached the World Series. Despite being an underdog again to the favored Texas Rangers, led by Cliff Lee and Josh Hamilton, the Giants persevered and claimed World Series victory through the united efforts of Lincecum, Posey and Madison Bumgarner.
